Jan speaks with Dr. Lauri Shainsky, a Shamanic Sound Healer/Sonic Soul Ecologist. Dr. Shainsky has been practicing a unique blend of shamanism and sound healing for over twenty years. She conducts course work, ceremonies and client sessions in her sound studio at beautiful Hidden Lake Retreat in Eagle Creek, Oregon. Her long career in as a scientist (forest ecology) and in educator (youth and adult natural sciences) have cultivated a deep relationship with nature and an abiding love for inspiring inquiry into the inner and outer realms of soul, sound, nature, spirit, and their roles in well-being.  Her professional goals are to bring sound more deeply into shamanism, shamanism more deeply into sound healing, and to assist people in freely using the voice as the magnificent healing instruments it is. 

 

In this episode, Jan and Lauri discuss:

-The advent of Zoom and how sound as a creative healing force has grown in importance; a great departure and restorative medicine for screen time.

-The virtual healing spaces we have established in our own homes and their networking with each other form of a virtual healing ecosphere that can be made more potent and rich through intentional sound exchange/sonic medicine. 

-Intimacy and privacy simultaneously— shy people can blossom more readily thanks to Zoom. 

-The importance of listening in sound healing.

-The importance of sovereignty and personal responsibility in creating healing spaces.
